UK EBUGGY & TRUCK NATIONAL R2

The 2nd round of the BRCA National E-buggy & Truggy series took place at the fabulous Kent track near Maidstone on Sunday, and it was once again an Agama A215E that came away as the victor.

The Kent track surface is a little unique in that it is a quite loose dirt, bound with cooking oil which gives some different traction characteristics to normal. Qualifying saw a great battle between Darren Bloomfield, Elliott Boots and Lee Martin, with 1st Round winner Jonny Skidmore right on the pace in 4th. The top 3 guys went down to the last round of qualifying for a pole shoot out, and Darren took a different tyre choice to rounds 1 & 2, by selecting the Cubez SS tyres as used by teammate Skidmore and this paid off with Darren laying down the fastest run of the day and securing the overall pole.

The Truggy class saw several Agama drivers qualifying for the main final, with Tony Truman, Jon Hazlewood and Michael Shorey all putting their cars directly into the final, to be joined by James Tatlow who bumped up from the B.

The Truggy final didn’t go to plan for the guys and it was Michael Shorey who ended up top Agama with a very creditable 6th overall.

The E-buggy Final started with Darren, Lee and Elliott all swapping positions after a bit of chaos at the start, and then Darren got hung up again and dropped to 4th. Elliott made the early get away, but then a series of mistakes dropped him way back, leaving Lee Martin in the lead with Darren and Jonny Skidmore chasing him down. Over the last 5 minutes Darren continually closed the gap and with a couple of laps to go was on him, and Darren made his move on the last lap to take the win and maintain the 100% BRCA win record for the A215E. Jonny Skidmore followed Lee home in 3rd to stand on the podium and set himself up for a title challenge having secured a 1st and 3rd in the opening rounds of the series and Ollie Currie made it 3 A215E's in the top 5 with a 5th place finish..... Thank you to the Kent club for a fabulous day.
